Not everyone has turkey at Christmas – food remains of a Wakefield peregrine

Francis has been onto the tower of Wakefield Cathedral to determine where the peregrine nestbox should be erected early in the new year and witnessed at first hand the grizzly food remains of the male peregrine that roosts on the cathedral. In the past Francis has found remains of woodcock which clearly shows that the bird is hunting at night but on this visit, he also found remains of fieldfare, redwing and golden plover as well as what was possibly once a black-headed gull. oeregrine kill, golden plover on Wakefield cathedralRedwing remains on Walefield cathedralPeregrine kills fieldfares for breakfast in Wakefield
