Outdoor Meetings

Field Meetings 2019 –  All persons taking part in our meetings do so at their own risk. Neither the Society or it’s officers will accept any responsibility for any injury, loss or damage sustained. Please wear suitable footwear for outdoor meetings and packed lunches are advisable on the more distant field trips.


May 12th – St Aidens

Spring birds and flowers. (2-3 hours)
Meet 10.30am in the car-park on Astley Lane, Leeds LS26 8AL (SE399287)
This RSPB reserve is fast becoming a wildlife hotspot. We should hear booming bittern and hopefully see black-necked grebes among the many bird species

June 9th  – Bempton Cliffs

Seabird spectacular.
Meet 10.30 a.m at car park on Cliff Lane, Bempton YO15 1JF (TA197738)
The soectacular cliffs of Bempton are home to thousands of seabirds. Bruing a camera! .

July 14th – Staveley Nature Reserve, Boroughbridge

Insects, flowers and birds. (2-3 hours)
Meet 10.30am at the reserve car-park, Minskip Road, Boroughbridge (SE369630)
This YWT reserve is a raised bog and home to lots of wildflowers and insects. Otter is a regular here too.

August 11th – Rodley Nature Reserve, Leeds

Insects and flowers. (2-3 hours).
Meet 10.30 a.m. at the car-park on Moss Bridge Raod, Rodley, LS13 1HP
We are visiting this reclaimed colliery site for the first time. The area contains meadow and woodland and is good for wildflowers and insects.
